Welcome to my blog! I'd love to connect and chat about a future session! In the mean time, take a look around the blog! Don't forget to stop and say Hello!
What is the newborn session process? How does it work? What can I expect in a newborn session? Those are some great questions and I know that there are several of you out there that are asking a lot of the same! So let us discuss these questions a little more thoroughly below!
Communication
First you’ll contact me. I mean that seems pretty obvious, but I digress… I can be contacted through email, phone, or through my facebook business page. I generally return emails and calls within 24 hours. If not, please don’t hesitate to send me another email or give me another call. Technology or just being a working mom, may have caught up to me!
After the initial contact, we decide together what session would be best to fit your needs depending on how many images you want, who you want in the photograph and your budget. This can be done through email, phone or in person! In person is great because you can check out the studio and meet the person who would be handling your baby! Always a plus! I do understand that is not always ideal, so there are other options!
Planning your newborn session
Planning your newborn session shouldn’t be too hard. This is where I’ll ask your favorite colors, or colors you’d rather not use, if there is anything special you’d like to include in the images (such as photos, heirlooms, or handmade items) or if there is any prop or pose that you do or don’t like. A newborn session is tailored to each individual.
Before your session, i’ll be sending you a guide of what to expect for session day. This guide goes over the dos and don’t for sessions, what to wear, what to bring and so forth! I’m always a text, email or phone call away if questions do arise.
Session day
Newborn Session time! Come on in and make yourself at home! Get cozy and settle in for a session! Depending on which session you choose, sessions can last anywhere from an one to three hours. I may be the photographer, but these little newborns are the boss. They choose when they eat, take a break or need a little snuggle from mom.
If family/sibling photos were booked, we do those at the beginning of the session. That way if dads need to leave for work or take care of the sibling they can.
Next is what I call “blanket poses.” This is where I photograph baby on a single blanket. I guess that is pretty obvious. 🙂 For a full newborn session, I do about 4 different colors of blankets with various poses. I generally like the sweet and simple poses best.
After the blanket poses, I do prop photos, such as baby in a cute little bed, or maybe even in a little bowl or bucket!
After your newborn session
After we wrap up a newborn session, you’ll be given a time frame in when the images will be done and uploaded in your gallery. This could be anywhere from three days to two weeks, depending on the season. For example, fall can be a little more crazy and turn around times can be closer to the 1-2 week mark. Three days is always my goal!
If you are ok with a sneak peak, keep an eye out on my fb business page! One will be coming your way, typically within 24 hours of the session!
Unless we’ve already discussed an in person ordering session, I’ll send a gallery of your images upon completion. What is this in person ordering you ask? In person ordering is when you come back to the studio, or I go to your home and show you your images in person. I walk you through your photos, and help you decide which images best suit you! You have seven days to complete the online order, and it can be done in the comfort of your own home. With either option, I am here to help!
Expect up to a 2-3 week turnaround in receiving products. I’ll message you when they come in! If you order digital images, they will need to be reviewed by me prior to them sending. That usually happens fairly quickly. With every digital image purchase you’ll receive 5×7 prints in an adorable linen box, along with a USB.
This is it for my end…UNLESS, you need my help. Remember, I’m always here to help. I’d help you hang a photo on your wall if you really wanted me too! Name a time and place, and I’ll be there!
I hope this helped with some of the uncertainty, and that you feel a little bit more comfortable with the process! If you are interested in chatting more about a session reach out to me on the contact page HERE or give me a call at 419-971-0123!
